How to Edit the Electronic Dispatch Board

This article will show you how to add, remove and reorder technicians on an existing dispatch board.

Add a Technician

  1. Go to Dispatch → Setup Dispatch Boards.
  2. In the Board Name list, select the name of the board you want to add a technician to.
  3. Once the board has been chosen you will see two columns with names on either side. Some will be technicians and some will be non-tech columns. These two columns represent the two sides of your dispatch board.
  4. In the column you want the new technician or non-tech listed, put your cursor into the next available space in the list. Use the drop-down menu that appears and select the technician or non-tech from the list.

Remove a Technician

  1. Select Dispatch → Setup Dispatch Boards.
  2. In the Board Name list, select the name of the board you want to remove a tech from.
  3. Once the board has been chosen you will see two columns with names on either side. Some will be technicians and some will be non-tech columns. These two columns represent the two sides of your dispatch board.
  4. Click once on the technician's name that you wish to remove.
  5. Hit the Delete key on your keyboard. A message will appear asking you if you are sure you want to remove this technician, select Yes.
  6. Save your board. When you go back into the dispatch board the tech will no longer be there. If the technician is still on the dispatch board, go to the Activities menu above the board and select Refresh (or simply hit the F5 key on your keyboard).

Reorder Technicians

  1. Select Dispatch → Setup Dispatch Boards.
  2. In the Board Name list, select the name of the board you want to reorganize.
  3. Once the board has been chosen you will see two columns with names on either side. Some will be technicians and some will be non-tech columns. These two columns represent the two sides of your dispatch board.
  4. To move a technician or non-tech column up or down in the list, click and hold the small gray square to the left of the name and drag that line up or down. Release the mouse to drop it into the current position.
  5. To move a technician or non-tech to a different column, click on the name once to highlight it and then click the Left or Right arrows between the columns. It is common practice to keep all non-tech columns on the left side of the dispatch board while all technicians remain on the right.

Additional Information

A technician or non-tech column needs to be added to your database first before they can be added to your Electronic Dispatch Board.

A new technician can be added by going to Dispatch → Enter Technicians. This screen should be reserved for actual employees and not used for adding columns to the board.

A non-tech column can be added by going to Dispatch → Enter Non-Tech Dispatch columns. This screen is for adding columns to the dispatch boards (such as Backorder or Pending Quotes) and not used for an actual employee of the company.
