Techs having access to equipment filter sizes on mobile

We are new to using program are wondering where anyone else enters filter sizes, other than in notes, so that the techs can see them in the mobile app.

  • Weldon,

I'd enter it as equipment in ESC.  Everyone can see it, and you can have it auto fill if you'd like.

We are a security company and use equipment to record building standard hardware types, finishes, etc.

  • Thanks Rick,

I have seen some of your other responses in the community and appreciate your help. Support said put in notes and I could do that but it would mean entering the same info, filter size and location over and over. I had thought of putting it in equipment, but with only 8 user defined drop downs available I did not want to use one of them up for info that only applies to about every fourth piece of equipment. I was hoping I was overlooking some other possibility and that is why I reached out. What we need to know about each piece of equipment we install has already used up all but one of the 8 available, and I was saving it, just in case. We started entering the filter info in the additional info tab and had gone quite a ways with our old customer's info before realizing that the techs could not see it. Air filters are cheap and seem like such a simple thing, but having the right filter at the right time and knowing where it goes saves us time. Nothing worst than belly crawling in a nasty crawl space 50 feet or doing a contorted balancing act in a attic to service a furnace and have to do it twice because you didn't know what size filter to bring even though you have been there before. We will put the info in equipment as you say, as a user defined entry, on the air handling piece of equipment for now. It would be a easier to decide to do that if there were more than 8 user defined drop downs for each piece of equipment.

  • Hi Weldon,

Out of curiosity, what are your 7 defined fields?

  • Weldon,

Perhaps I'm missing something, but if you manually add another equipment entry for the filter and enter the s/n or id number of the equipment that it goes to in the Serial field, you won't be dependent on additional fields, etc.

When the tech knows he's working on "wizzycoolAC" "s/n 12345", he or she can check the equipment list for the correct filter.

If you enter the main unit and the filter at the same time, you'll get them right next to each other on the equipment list as well.

    Hope this helps.

    Rick

  • Rick,

Yes it did help. Thanks. Looking at the way you suggested helped me think of it in another way. I can now let the tech see the filter size, if the tech goes to the equipment tab on mobile. They can see it, know the filter size and open it up for more info if required without having to search thru equipment attached to that customer. Because of the way the mobile app works we can substitute the filter size for the serial number and have it appear instead of the serial number. You can't make that work if you use an equipment ID. I think it will appear instead of the serial number. We don't have any reason to use and equipment ID. Odd having an expendable item as equipment but it works for now. Thanks again.

  • Rich,

nothing in stone yet and I am sure it's not a waste of time and I keep changing them so knowing what they are now would not be any help to anyone.

  • Weldon,

If it helps i enter the filter size in the "size drop down box" for each piece of equipment. example is 16x25x1 or if there are multiples such as a roof top i enter it as 2-16x25x1. If multiple sizes per each piece of equipment then i list them in the equipment notes. This way i know the size, quantity and specifically which unit they go to. I do not list them in the general notes for the customer unless i am entering a complete filter list and quantities for that location. I still list individual sizes on each equipment. All mobile techs and anyone with access to our system can retrieve the sizes and quantities for each unit. I enter belt sizes and quantities in the equipment notes panel. Hope this helps you.
